About Mathilda
Over the past 10 years I have helped many people THRIVE
I can do the same for you and your loved ones!
Hi, I am Mathilda Prinsloo. Thank you for your interest in my story.
I received my bachelor's degree in pharmacy in 1983 at North-West University in South-Africa.
In 2002 I immigrated to Canada and practiced as a community pharmacist while advancing my education in the areas of Geriatrics, (health and medication needs of older adults) Diabetes Management, Deprescibing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Lifestyle Coaching.
I am a licenced pharmacist in Manitoba, a member of Pharmacists Manitoba, the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists. I am licenced at the Canadian Diabetes Educator Certification Board, a member of Diabetes Canada Diabetes Educator Section, a member of the Institute for Personalized Nutrition Therapy and a Certified Precision Nutrition lifestyle coach level 1.
I regularly attend professional development events and receive news feeds from numerous trusted sources of information which keep my knowledge base updated. This makes me feel confident that I provide the highest quality of care to my clients.
I have written articles for peer reviewed publications and enjoy writing on topics of interest which are posted in my blog. Occasionally I present at community and professional events.
Since 2006 I have been rewarded for lifelong learning by the The College of Pharmacists of Manitoba. My clinical expertise in diabetes management gives me authority to prescribe diabetes medications.
Apart from my passion for helping people to feel the way they want to feel I love being physically active, experimenting in my kitchen, spending time in nature and the company of my adult children, grandson and friends.
Patient Care and Thrive Practice
I discovered my passion for the health and medication needs of the elderly when I practiced in a community setting where most of my clients were older adults. This experience inspired me to advance my understanding of aging, health challenges that come with aging and best practices to care for older adults.
After I certified as a geriatric pharmacist I practised as a consultant and medication expert in longterm care for several years where I honed my clinical and deprescribing skills. As a member of multiple health professional teams my role was to ensure residents were not treated with medications they no longer needed, medications that were ineffective or unsafe for them.
As a consultant at Patient Care and Thrive Practice I help older adults in the same manner to maintain their functionality and independence and enjoy greater satisfaction with life.
Patient Care and Thrive Practice is build on clinical and evidence based health and wellness principles where I apply and integrate my knowledge, training, expertise and coaching skills to help adults of all ages with medication related problems as well as a variety of lifestyle related problems like insomnia, high blood sugar, problems with food cravings and weight management.
Together we find better ways to help you THRIVE instead of survive!
